Cannabidiol is a chemical extract identified in the Cannabis Sativa plant, otherwise referred to as hemp or marijuana. Bowling centers are popping up all over the country and the sport is quickly achieving an all time high in popularity among people of all ages. For those of you that are not yet up to date on how to bowl or more importantly how to score a bowling game (without the use of computers), then this guide is just the thing for you. Lets start with understanding the items you will need to bowl with.
The Basic Equipment
Bowling centers will typically supply you with all of the basic items you will need in order to bowl a game at their location. The basic items you will need include a bowling ball (usually available for free throughout the back of the center) and bowling shoes (usually available for rent at the service desk in the center). Typically the bowling balls that are ready for use at the bowling alley are made of a poly blend material (it is light weight plastic). The weight of the ball varies from six to sixteen pounds. There are three holes drilled into the ball for your fingers. The top two holes (which are side by side) are for your middle and a ring finger, the larger bottom whole is for your thumb. And that is how you will grip the ball (you should bowl with the hand you write with).
To be on the safer side, you can also list of the best straight bowling balls so that it would give you an idea to buy the one that would fit into your fingers like a tee and help you play a perfect game without any scope for mistakes.
The Bowling Lane
A standard modern bowling lane is made of synthetic fiber (older lanes are made of wood fibers). That is where the variations in lanes end. Everything else about the lanes and their setup is regulated by a national bowling board. The lane is sixty two feet, ten and three sixteenths long from the foul line (black strip at start of lane) to the back of the pit (the area where the pins set). The lanes width is between forty one and forty two inches wide, plus the gutters. The approach (the area you walk on in front of the lane) is fifteen feet long.
As you look out on the lane, there are several marking you will see on the lane. On the approach area, you will see 2 sets of dots across the approach. These are suggested approach line which you will learn about when you have more experience. At the beginning of the lane itself you will see a solid black line. This is the foul line, if your foot crosses this line, you will be fouled for that ball and you will get no credit for that ball. About 10 feet down the lane are two set of dots on either side of the lane. These are marks that bowlers use as a guide for throwing the ball to put the ball on a particular part of the lane. Further down there is a set of arrows, these arrows line up with the front line of pins that you see. There are ten pins at the end of the lane. The pins are number from front to back and left to right.
Bowling Game Scoring
There are ten frames in a bowling game. The first nine frames consists of two attempts, the tenth frame has three attempts. The concept is to knock down as many of the tens pins as possible per frame in the attempts allotted. The total number of pins you get a chance to knock down in a game is one hundred and twenty; the maximum score possible in a single game is three hundred. This is due to two special marking, strikes and spares. When you knock over all ten pins on the first attempt of a frame, this is called a strike. When you bowl a strike, your next two throws will be added to that frame then added again in their respective frames. A spare is what happens when the remaining pins are knocked over in the second attempt of a frame. When this happens, the next throw is added to that frame.
These are the very basic concepts on the game of bowling. See my other articles for more in depth bowling concepts.
What is your response when you are asked about something that you have no idea about? What do you do when you have prepared for your exams by burning midnight oil and find out on the exam day that the questions are out of syllabus?
There are many questions that boggle your mind but it is impossible for a common person to know the technical aspects of anything although he might recognize it by its appearance.
Most of us have a roof on top of our head to provide us shelter apart from electronic appliances both inside and outside to provide us numerous facilities that we can avail and some of them are TV, refrigerator, tube light, fan, geyser, air conditioner, etc. but today we shall look at something different.
Solar Panels don’t immediately come to mind when you think of electrical appliance because they have been neglected for a long time which is quite astonishing as they were the talk of the town once upon a time.
These panels were hugely popular in Australia despite its meager population compared to the United States and Canada but they are installed on the rooftop through photo voltaic cells through which electricity is generated by using sunlight as the main source.
This phenomenon was virtually unheard of in the olden times but it came into being in the early 19th century when the renowned French physicist Alexander-Edmond Becquerel when he used certain everyday objects to create friction so that it would produce light or fire.
Even he wouldn’t have had the faintest idea that he would produce electricity by trying out this random technique even though Benjamin Franklin had already discovered electricity many centuries earlier.
During the 1830s, solar panels were used for very few electronic instruments but weren’t seen as a major source to provide electricity to an entire house because houses were too big at the time as the economy was quite strong in US and Europe as they had maximum contribution to world GDP at that time.
Polycrystalline Vs Monocrystalline
Solar Panels are categorized into two parts and they are Polycrystalline and Monocrystalline and the both do an adequate job in using sun as the main source of light for producing electricity in order to run electronic home appliances.
As mentioned above, solar panels are mostly popular in Australia and United States but since the former has a much smaller population it is easy to take the data of the number of houses in various states like Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia.
The main difference between the two is that Polycrystalline solar panels have lower efficiency while Monocrystalline ones are higher on the efficiency rate that have their own significance.
In addition, polycrystalline panels have blue hue while Monocrystalline panels have black hue but they both are made from silicon where the makers heat the contents to make up the wafers in the panel that you can read in detail from A Guide to the best monocrystalline solar panels.
Florida’s citrus production is a nearly 4 billion dollar industry according to a study published by the University of Florida in 2000, you can find more info about that here as well. Orange juice processing is a seasonal operation as one might guess. With the onset of spring, the air is filled with the pleasant scent of orange blossoms from the 87 million or so trees spread from central to southern Florida. Oranges are ready for cultivation in late summer with the sweetest harvested in the fall after cooler weather moves in. The best of the oranges go to the grocery stores, and the rest go to juice processors.
I did a short stint with one of the local orange juice processors a year ago, working as a supervisor over 30 fruit graders. “Graders” would seem to imply there are different grades of fruit, but in the juice industry, there are only two grades: good and bad. Grading takes place twice before the oranges are processed. The plant processed some 200 tons of oranges a day during a 24/7 operation. There are about 12,000 oranges in a ton, so the operation processed about 2,400,000 oranges a day.
With over two million oranges to inspect, things move quickly. The first inspection process has graders removing small branches, twig, and stems from the oranges as well as picking out bad or rotted oranges. At the speed in which the oranges are going by the four graders at each table, about 560 oranges a minute, much is missed. The “graded” oranges are taken by conveyor to storage bins. Along the way, a mechanical sampler selects a few for the Florida Department of Agriculture to check. When I say selects a few, it is about one out of a thousand. Once the FDA finds the lot acceptable, and I never saw one rejected, the oranges are sent via conveyor to the processing plant.
At the front end of the processing plant is the final grading line before the oranges are turned into a slurry of juice and pulp. This is the final opportunity to remove any bad oranges. There are always a few bad oranges that get through, and bad oranges are not all that there is to be found at the grading stations. There is the occasional rat carcass to be extracted, but the worst item I heard of was the possum head! What became of the rest of the unlucky possum’s body is unknown.
After processing, a sample of the orange slurry is sent to a lab where inspectors examine it for fly larvae. These little critters are only 3mm long on average and often well camouflaged within the pulp of the orange juice. Disgusting? Not really. All processed foods contain some amount of foreign objects such as insects or their larvae. As for orange juice, the more pulp in the juice, the more likely you are to find a little extra protein. So should you go for the “No Pulp” O.J.? I think not. The pulp is good for your digestive system, and the occasional larvae are harmless.
If you have never cooked with whole grains before, you might be surprised to know that they are actually pretty simple to cook. You have so many options to choose from when cooking with grains due to their versatility. Are you the creative type? Well cooking with whole grains allows you to really explore your cooking creativity while enjoying a healthy meal. Here are some things to know about whole grain and some cooking tips to follow:
Not sure which grains are whole?
Here is a list of some to choose from: Barley, brown rice, millet, quinoa, rye, cornmeal, popcorn, buckwheat, teff, whole wheat flour, cracked wheat, oats, amaranth, corn, barley, kamut, wild rice, and sorghum. If you have any of these, then you are definitely working with whole grains.
What isn’t whole grain?
If you are unsure if your product is whole grain, then check to see if it says any of the following: wheat germ, enriched flour, semolina, unbleached flour, bran, degerminated or wheat flour. If any of these words show up on your package, you aren’t working with whole grain.
What kind of pan to use
When cooking whole grains, it is best to use a skillet that is heavy and has a lid that fits tight. The grains should be spread out thin in your pan so if they are over an inch deep, then you should change to a larger pan. The grains need to cook evenly on the skillet surface so it is important that the surface area is large enough.
Cook with the lid on
I know we all might have the urge to constantly check the progress of our food while its cooking but in this case, you only need to begin frequent checking near the end of the cooking process. During the first half, keep the lid on tight so that the grains can simmer properly in the moisture that is building up in the pan. This will ensure that you have soft grains and not hard and crunchy.
Let them stand
After you have finished cooking your grains, you will need to let them sit for at least 5 minutes, 10 minutes at the most. They should be covered during this time. Letting them stand will guarantee that they will firm up and be nice and fluffy.
For you to be able to cook properly, it is important to use the right cooking utensils and equipment such as the best woks. This will help you ensure that the results of your cook will be delicious and presentable.
Overall, whole grains are simple to prepare when you know the right tips. These grains are very important in keeping good health and provide essential vitamins and minerals including zinc and potassium. They are also a great source of antioxidants. You can’t go wrong when you go whole grain.
Canine dental care isn’t much different from human dental care. Canine dental care includes a good diet, direct care of the dog’s teeth, and vigilance. It is also important that dog owners know the signs of canine periodontal disease in order to prevent infections. Brushing the dog’s teeth as well as offering a complete diet, installation of In-Ground Dog Fences to keep them away from inedible objects, and appropriate chew toys and treats can go a long way toward avoiding canine dental problems later in your dog’s life.
Making canine dental care easy
The first step in providing good canine dental care at home is a good relationship with your dog. While petting your dog, ensure that you can handle your dog’s mouth. Besides making tooth care easier, this is simply good bonding practice. Use consistent and gentle touch around the mouth. Try this at quiet times rather than when your dog is boisterous and playful so that you do not inadvertently encourage nipping.
Once your dog becomes used to having his muzzle touched, move on to gently inserting your fingers in your dog’s mouth. Teach Fido to allow you to open the mouth. This is accomplished most easily by holding thumb and finger behind the canines and lifting upward. Be careful not to press down on the top of the dog’s nose. This blocks the nasal cavities and inhibits breathing. Shutting off the air may cause your dog to fight your grip, and rightly so.
Brushing your dog’s teeth
Once you can handle and open your dog’s mouth, you can begin brushing your dog’s teeth. Start slowly so that it does not become a bone of contention between you and your dog. There are many products on the pet market to help accomplish this task. Pads and brushes of various types assist in canine dental care. Never use human toothpaste to brush your dog’s teeth! Human toothpaste is designed to spit out, not swallowed. Dogs cannot spit, so the ingredients in human toothpaste may irritate your dog’s stomach.
Brush your dog’s teeth often
Though it sounds inconvenient, brushing your dog’s teeth daily yields the best results. Morning or evening dental care needn’t be a prolonged experience for you or your dog. There is no need to worry about brushing all surfaces – many dogs don’t tolerate prolonged dental care. Cleaning the outer surfaces seems the most important because this is the larger surface and food is more likely to collect under the gum line.
Many groomers now offer tooth brushing with the rest of the cleaning service. It may prove helpful to ask if your groomer can show you how this is accomplished. Be sure the groomer is not using human toothpaste and has experience brushing canine teeth.
The role of toys in canine dental care
Chewing is a dog’s natural way of cleaning the teeth, as well as relieving boredom. There is a reason for a large number of chew toys on the market. Saving furniture and shoes is only a part of the reason for dog toy sales. Chewing nylon chewies massages gums and strengthens teeth by stimulating blood flow. Rope bones and flosser-type toys help dislodge food particles as they scrape over the surface of the dog’s teeth.
Treats for better canine dental care
Hard biscuits help dislodge food particles. Chlorophyll canine dental care chews prevent bad breath by destroying plaque. Consider the produce aisle in your local grocery store as well – carrots are an inexpensive treat that helps massage gums and strengthens teeth.
A note about chewies
Be aware that some chewies intended to assist in canine dental care have come under fire as choking hazards. Always buy the appropriate size for your canine friend. If you must leave your dog alone with a canine dental chew, be sure large pieces are unlikely to break off to become lodged in the throat. If rawhide is your choice of canine dental care chewie, make sure your dog is not the type to chew large chunks lose and swallow them. Those large pieces can swell and become lodged in the intestines. In fact, rawhide should be avoided if the dog must be left alone with a chewie.
Good canine dental care is as vital to your dog’s health as fresh air and exercise. Keeping a healthy canine mouth avoids infections and tooth loss. Caring for a dog’s teeth can even improve the human-canine bond.
A new puppy is an exciting and loving addition to the family. Once a puppy grows they become an important member of the family offering unconditional love, obedience and constant companionship. But the first few months with a new puppy can be a test of a family’s resilience and patience as everyone learns what it takes to train a puppy.
Puppies are cute, that can’t be contested. But puppies also are rambunctious in the sense that they chew on furniture and belongings, stain the carpet, and bark and whimper relentlessly at all hours of the night. But families who are prepared for a new puppy and who are up to the challenge of training their new puppy are much more likely to successfully transition a new puppy into their family.
Home preparation for your new puppy includes preparing your home, both inside and outside. Your puppy will need ample room to roam outside, so ensure that there is a safe area that is fenced and free of danger for your curious and energetic puppy.
You also need to prepare the inside of your house by storing up equipment to clean the inevitable accidents that will accompany a new puppy. The barking of the dog should be at unknown person. The purchase of new puppy can be done from the online stores. Some equipment can be purchased through the person to dig this essential information. The inside and outside of the house should offer a positive environment for the puppies.
Home preparation for your new puppy must include lots of patience and understanding from everyone in the family. It takes a while to house train a new puppy, and there are bound to be accidents. Prepare your children for what they can expect, and let them know that some of their things may be chewed by the puppy if they are left unattended.
Home preparation for your new puppy also involves a certain amount of time commitment. Puppies are babies who don’t like to be left alone for long periods of time. Make sure the timing is right for your family when you bring a new puppy home. Someone should be home for the majority of the day when a puppy first comes into your life.
And home preparation for your new puppy also includes expecting some sleepless nights. It often takes a puppy a little while to adjust to their new surroundings, and babies just don’t sleep through the night. Expect to spend some time with your new puppy around the clock for the first little while.
Ensuring that your puppy is safe when you are not at home is another important aspect in home preparation for your new puppy. Many dog owners chose to have their dog crate trained, so that the puppy stays in a crate at night and during the day when no one is at home. Crate training your puppy will cut down on the accidents in your home, and also gives your puppy a sense of security when you are not there.

One of the things that I enjoy most about practicing veterinary medicine is the variety that each day brings. No day is ever exactly like the previous one. The genetic diversity of my canine patients alone accounts for a great deal of this variety. Dogs have been bred to with a dizzying array of range genetic traits. The National Geographic reports that there are approximately “350 to 400 dog breeds1”.
Dogs were domesticated roughly 20,000 to 15,000 years ago and since have been bred for a multiplicity of uses. Canine genetics have been molded by dog breeders to result in such varied purposes as hunting lions in Africa to siting on Victorian ladies laps.
Most people, including myself, assumed that most of this specialization occurred long ago but recent genetic testing, as reported in National Geographic’s February 2012 issue, reveals that most of it occurred within the past “couple of hundred years”1. This genetic specialization resulted from choosing dogs which shared desired traits, breeding them together, and then choosing and breeding puppies from the resulting liters that emphasized the preferred traits. As this process continued canine lines where developed which fulfilled the specific requirements of breeders.
In addition to a multitude of desirable changes, unanticipated side effects of all this selected genetic melding was the concurrent selection of undesirable traits. These unintended genetic consequences have resulted in abnormalities that can range from annoying to debilitating or even life threatening.
Examples of these genetic abnormalities include tracheal collapse in small breed dogs, heart failure in boxers, blindness in Bull Mastiffs, and degenerative spinal cord disease in German Shepherds. The complete list of breeds and range of anomalies are too extensive to describe in this article. Your veterinarian will be able to advise you if your dog’s breed could potentially be affected.
Now this is a serious problem that needs to be sorted out sooner than later because these abnormalities are going to have a grave impact on his health so if you want to keep it from going worse, it is better to go online and check here and there for relevant articles for solutions as there are plenty of them.
The good news is that because of ongoing genetic research involving the canine genome many of these conditions can be tested for. Testing is beneficial for three main reasons. Dogs intended for breeding that test positive can be altered and taken out of the gene pool. Owners of dogs who are not planning on breeding can have their pets tested which will allow their veterinarians to initiate early treatment if feasible. Even if early treatment is not feasible, owners and veterinary clinicians can be on the lookout for symptoms, which are much easier to see spot if you know what you are looking for. The third reason for testing is that, for instance, if you know that your Beagle is positive say for a blood clotting deficiency, your veterinarian can take extra precautions during surgery or after an injury.
I encourage you to discuss genetic testing with your veterinarian especially if you are a dog breeder. Regardless of the result you will gain a wealth of information that will assist you in making critical decisions about your pet’s health and help improve the wellbeing of the breed overall.
Recently my boyfriend and I adopted a dog. I had been wanting a dog for so long and had the increasing desire for one when we moved to the city. My boyfriend got a full time job that required him to be out of town for 4 or 5 days out of the week. I instantly became depressed. I was home alone all of the time with nothing to do and certainly no one to hang out with. When we got our dog I could instantly feel the effects of his presence. I had previously felt alone, desolate, and depressed. Once we got the dog I felt like I had a purpose, an adorable, friendly, loving purpose.
Before we got our dog when I was at home alone and feeling depressed, which was pretty much ALL of the time; I would just sit there thinking about how crappy I felt. I never got out to exercise and I ate a lot of junk food; which only made me feel more depressed. When we got our dog he became my obligation; I had to walk him at least twice a day and toss around his toy with him. He got me more actively involved. This made me feel like a human being again and not so depressed and down on myself!
All the days of the week when my boyfriend was out of town I always had to go to bed alone. This was the time when I found myself the most depressed. When we got our dog we also got a kennel for him. We put the kennel right next to our bed. Most of the time he would sleep in there but when I am alone and maybe a little teary eyed he jumps on the bed next to me; he pushes his head under my neck and pushes all his weight onto me. This makes me feel the very opposite of depressed! My dog has the sweetest disposition and the cutest face I have ever seen he wipes the depression right away when he looks at me with his puppy dog eyes.
The most amazing part of having a dog is that when you get home or walk into a room full of people they will run, wagging their tails to YOUR side. This makes you feel like the biggest, most important person in the room and in the world. Dogs can make your depression disappear with their unconditional love and devotion. Hence, as a pet owner, it is your responsibility to make sure that h is happy and healthy always. To give you some helpful tips about the proper ways of taking good care of your lovable dog, you can read more here.
I will say with a word of caution that dogs are a big responsibility. Getting a dog solely to cure your depression is not a bad thing but make sure that you love and cherish it as much as it will you. Don’t invite a dog into your life to help with your depression and then not do anything with it and in turn make it depressed. Work together as a team. You will reap some amazing benefits. Your dog can take away your depression for your lifetime if you let them.
